Halloween Berry Hand Pies
Servings: 8-12 Hand Pies
Ingredients:
Store bought pie crust
About 1 cup Fruit preserves (flavor of your choosing)
1 egg
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper then set aside.
Cut out as many circles as you can. Half of the circles will have designs cut out of them for the top and the other half will be the base.
Place the bottom circles on the prepared cookie sheet keeping about 1 1/2" in between each.
Whisk the egg in a small dish to make the egg wash.
Using a pastry brush paint a thin layer of egg wash on top of the circles on the cookie sheet.
Next, place about 1 1/2 to 2 Tbsp. of fruit preserves in the center of the bottom circles. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread the preserves evenly on the base leaving about 1/4" of space clear around the edge.
For the top layers of these treats, use a pairing knife or an each knife to cut out all sorts of halloween shapes. Use the video above to give you some ideas and see what I came up with!
Place the top layers on top of the base, preserve layer. Use a fork to seal the sides shut working your way around the entire circle.
Paint another thin layer of egg wash on top of each one.
Bake for 10-14 minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy!
