Valentines Day Hand Pies

Ingredients:
Store bough pie crust
Berry jam (whichever brand or flavor your prefer)
1 egg
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 1/2 - 3 Tbsp. water
food dye, red or pink (optional)
sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out as many hearts as you can from the pie crust.
Place the hearts on the cookie sheet about 1 1/2" apart.
Place about 1 Tbsp. of jam in the center of each heart. Use a butterknife or an offset spatula to help spread the jam around the heart a bit more. Keep about 1/4" clear along the edge.
Whisk the egg in a small bowl then brush this along the edge of the heart with the jam in the center.
Top each pie with another heart. Press a fork along the edges to seal the jam inside and close the sides.
Brush the egg wash on top of the entire hand pie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Let the pies cool completely on a wire rack.
In the meantime, whisk together the confectioners sugar and water to bake the glaze. Add the water a little at a time until you reach a smooth consistency. Add the food dye of your choice.
Once the hand pies have cooled, place the glaze into a piping bag then pipe on the details. Use the video above to see how I decorated my hand pies. I also topped mine with festive sprinkles.
Have fun and enjoy!
